The Grace Family Vineyards is a vineyard and winery in Napa, California. It is widely regarded as one of the original cult wineries in the Napa Valley, and was the first American winery to use the word "family" in its name.
The first harvest at Grace was picked by family and friends in 1978 and taken to Caymus Winery in the back of a station wagon. When Charlie Wagner, the late Caymus patriarch, tasted those first grapes, he exclaimed, “You know, Dick, this is damned fine fruit!” And so one of the Napa Valley’s first vineyard designated wines was produced.
Though Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet became one of Napa Valley’s first “cult” wines renowned throughout the wine world, it remained a small, family affair for the next forty years.
